The monastery was canocally establised as Cella in the archdiocese of Changanacherry in 1986. A permanent site was then purchased at Kappadu and the Community moved there with the status of simple Priory in 1988. It was promoted to the status of an abbey on September 8, 2004 and Abbot John Kurichianil was blessed as the first abbot on January 20, 2005.

The activities of the community include retreats, pastoral work, teaching catechsim, preaching retreats and manual labour. The brothers also undertake social work in the surrounding areas.

In Kappadu, 5 km from Kanjirapally.

By Car :

From Kottayam take the Kanjirapally – Erattupetta routes and to Kappadu and ask for direstions.

By Bus :

From Kottayam, take a bus to Kanjirapally – Petta bus stop. Trom there take the Kanjirapally Erattupetta bus and get down at Munnamile bus stop. The monastery is to the west of the bus stop.

By Rail :

From Kottayam railway station take an auto to KSRTC bus station and follow directions.

By Air :

From Kochi airport take an auto to either Ernakulam Junction (South) railway station (2 km) take a train to Kottayam and follow directions “By Rail” or Ernakulam KSRTC bus stations (3 km) take a bus to Kottayam and follow directions “By Bus”.
